Stars

Stars

Have you ever wondered
About the stars?
About the tiny specks of light
That seem so far away?

What are the stars?
Great balls of burning gas
Designed to make us wonder?
Or do they have a purpose?

Perhaps they are suns for
Worlds like ours
Millions of light years away

Worlds like ours
Galaxies of suffering souls
World after world of heartbreak and loss
My small problems don't seem to matter as much
When compared to a universe of sorrow

But if there is sorrow, wouldn't there also be joy?
Endless streets of dancing children
Millions after millions of smiles and laughs?
New life, new chances
Forgiveness, hope
Lifelong dreams fulfilled?

Yes, if there are other worlds out there,
Then the exceeding joy
Would surpass the sorrow

But, of course
The brilliant stars we see at night
May just be stars
And our world may be alone.

Dear Amanda,
Another talent I didn't know you had! A poet in the family! Did you just write this or was it an assignment? I'm impressed! Remember Grandma told you you're to write a book. This is a great start. Hope to see you soon, we love you! Write some more on the family blog!
Love,
Grandma Pennock
